2019 Summer Update
Time for another update as we are now in our eighth month of trading and summer is on the horizon! The benefits of sustainable shopping are currently being well represented in the news with the preloved market set to overtake fast fashion by as soon as 2029, so all the signs are positive for the future of Vintage & Vogue!
It has certainly been a busy time for us, with one of our absolute highlights being our PopUp week at Cecilia Quinn Shoe Boutique in Old Amersham. We loved the whole experience and were thrilled by how our preloved fashion was so brilliantly received by the lovely ladies who visited us. We also met many new clients who had clothes and accessories they wished to sell. Since we started in November, we have now had over 100 ladies using us to sell their gorgeous pieces. They either visit us in the studio or we travel to meet them, if they have too many items to bring. Always a fun trip, as you can imagine and absolutely fabulous to come across so many excellent designer pieces. Chloë, Chanel and YSL to name but a few. This really is peer to peer fashion at its best!
We have also been delighted to welcome so many keen shoppers to our studio, which has been looking lovely in the sunshine. Nothing beats opening up the French doors and setting up for a busy Open weekend. We have been lucky enough to have visits from many local stylists, who have been incredibly supportive and our own in house model, Grace, who has looked absolutely gorgeous in every outfit she has showcased for us! Having another face on our squares certainly keeps things fresh and gives us some welcome time off. Most significantly, though we are so pleased that we have developed such a good relationship with many of our repeat customers, who are happy to pop in and view our latest additions and also spread the word about V&V in the local community.
So what’s next on the cards? Well, the summer months are throwing up some new opportunities, which we hope will continue to promote our business. Firstly we will be having a PopUp at the Beacon school, where we have been asked to promote sustainable fashion as part of a green awareness programme. Secondly, we will be hosting an evening with our local Girl Tribe Gang and giving a talk on “What Makes for a Good Partnership” as well as discussing the merits of conscious shopping. Finally, we are also hosting a styling event in conjunction with Wobasa, a community group for women in Bucks, which is designed to make them feel happier about every aspect of their lives.
Currently, however, we are back in our favourite Provence, where our journey started last year with a chance visit to a preloved boutique in Arles and the purchase of those Chanel shoes. Wonder what we will find this time?
Jenny & Emma.
