2020 Spring Update

Well, what can we say, this wasn’t quite the spring update we were hoping for!! Fashion is definitely taking a back seat at the moment and understandably so as the world struggles to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic. These are extremely testing times for many, raising not only the obvious health concerns, but also financial pressures and strain on mental well-being as we live in this current lockdown situation. Shopping for essential food, rather than clothing is the number one concern for most people!

Nevertheless, we thought that we should continue to keep you updated with what we have been up to in the last few months and look for the positives where we can. In January, we were lucky enough to be asked to host an evening of preloved fashion with the Thames Valley Women in Property Group at their impressive offices in Reading. This gave us the opportunity to share our passion with a new and enthusiastic clientele, who swooped on our clothing rails with gusto. We are becoming quite the experts at moving vast amounts of clothing about with ease, even when we are booked in to a meeting room on the 10th floor!

In February, we were delighted to return to Cecilia Quinn shoe boutique in Old Amersham for another PopUp week. We always meet the most interesting people there and this time was no exception, with some fabulous vintage pieces arriving in stock. Unfortunately, our selling space has now been rented out for the rest of the year, so we may not be able to return there for a while, but we will keep you posted on any further developments.

Moving on to March, we were delighted to appear again in the Buckinghamshire Living magazine, this time in a special ‘Women Mean Business’ feature. This was a real milestone for us and showed just how far we have come in such a short space of time. We are also hopeful that this publicity will help attract more local ladies to use our services, when business returns to normal. Due to the virus, we are not taking in new stock at the moment, but we will clearly be looking to replenish as soon as possible.

This month has already proved eventful as we signed up to take part in an Instagram shopping event. This was an initiative from the business networking group, Discovher and was designed to showcase small female led businesses in a 24 hour flash sale. As part of the advertising, each company was asked to post two videos, which needless to say required many retakes!! Still, we managed it in the end and will be much better prepared for next time! We received a lot of interest, gained dozens of new followers and made some sales, so well worth stepping out of our comfort zone for!

Speaking of sales, it is obviously difficult to trade at the moment as the studio remains closed, but we are very pleased that customers are continuing to buy clothes from our existing stock through Facebook and Instagram and we are happy to drop pieces off to local ladies or organise courier delivery for those who live further afield. So keep checking our new posts, there might be something you can’t resist! Due to the lockdown, we are not of course able to work together at the moment, so thank goodness for modern technology! So far, there have been ways to get round most problems. Having said that, we very much look forward to the day when we are back together having fun in the studio, ready to welcome our lovely clients through the door!! In the meantime ladies, stay home and stay safe!
